Samsung VXT + Nexmosphere: Sensors That Make Your Screens Respond

Samsung VXT runs what your screens show; Nexmosphere sensors tell them when to change. A shopper walks up, picks up a product or presses a button, and your VXT screen responds with the right content at that moment.

VXT can already switch content when it receives a signal. What it does not give you is the sensors that create that signal. That is the gap Nexmosphere fills for Samsung VXT users.

VXT and Nexmosphere basics

Nexmosphere is a sensor company based in Eindhoven, the Netherlands. It makes one platform with more than 25 sensor types that add interactivity to digital signage (Nexmosphere).

  1. Sensor types
Presence sensors, RFID, touchless buttons, lidar and product-lift sensors
  2. One connection
All sensors are controlled through 1 USB or UDP connection
  3. Scale
From one sensor up to 250 per system
  4. Built to last
Designed for 24/7/365 use, with no recurring costs for the sensors

Nexmosphere lists Samsung as a hardware partner, with a USB integration for Samsung Tizen SoC screens (Nexmosphere partners).

Why combine Samsung VXT and Nexmosphere?

VXT decides what the screen shows; Nexmosphere notices what is happening in front of it. VXT Canvas's Event Manager switches pages when it receives a signal (VXT CMS user manual). Nexmosphere supplies the sensors that send it.

Question
VXT only
VXT + Nexmosphere
Can the screen switch content on a trigger?
Yes. Event Manager reacts to network (UDP), serial-port, SmartThings and touch events
Yes. Now triggered by what shoppers do in the store
Which sensors can I use?
Sensors or buttons you source yourself
More than 25 sensor types, from presence and lidar to RFID and product lifts
How many sensors per system?
Not specified
From 1 up to 250 sensors
Does it work with Samsung screens?
Yes. VXT is Samsung's own CMS
Yes. Nexmosphere lists Samsung as a hardware partner
Can I see the results in a dashboard?
No. Proof of Play shows what played and exports to Excel
Yes, with Sensmi, Nexmosphere's analytics partner

In  short: Nexmosphere senses, VXT runs the content, YoYo makes set-up easy, and Sensmi tells you whether it paid off.

How VXT and Nexmosphere work together

Both sides speak the same language. Nexmosphere sends sensor signals over USB or UDP; VXT's Event Manager listens for network (UDP) events, serial-port signals and SmartThings device status (VXT Event: Serial Port). A typical interaction runs like this:

  1. A shopper acts
They walk up to the shelf, lift a product or press a touchless button.

  2. The sensor detects it

A Nexmosphere sensor picks up the action.

  3. A signal is sent

The Nexmosphere controller passes it on over USB or the network.

  4. VXT switches the content
The Event Manager plays the page in VXT Canvas linked to that signal.

  5. Default content returns
When there are no events for a set time, VXT shows the page you chose for that moment.

VXT and Nexmosphere use cases for retail screens

These are the scenarios Nexmosphere builds its sensors for. With VXT, you create and schedule the content for each one in VXT Canvas.

Use case
What the sensor detects
What the VXT screen shows
Lift & Learn
A shopper picks up a product
That product's video, specs or price
Approach & Learn
Someone walks up to a display
A welcome message or product story
Presence-triggered content
A person stands in front of the screen
Switches from an attract loop to the main message
Endless aisle
A shopper approaches a kiosk
The touch menu or full product range

Measuring VXT and Nexmosphere results with Sensmi

Every sensor trigger is also a data point: someone approached, picked something up or pressed a button. Sensmi is an official Nexmosphere analytics partner (Nexmosphere partners), so those interactions can become dashboards of traffic, dwell time and engagement around your VXT screens.

Getting started with VXT and Nexmosphere

You need a VXT licence, compatible Samsung screens and Nexmosphere sensors. Then you link them in VXT Canvas.

  1. VXT P Series licence.
Event triggers come with the P Series, not S Series (VXT feature guide).

  2. Compatible screens.
Samsung displays running the latest VXT Player firmware (compatible hardware). Nexmosphere lists Samsung SoC screens with Tizen 7.0 as compatible over USB (Nexmosphere support).

  3. Nexmosphere sensors and controller.

Choose the sensors for your use case, from presence and lidar to product-lift and touchless buttons.

  4. Connect.

Plug the controller into the screen over USB, or connect it to the network over UDP.

  5. Set up your events.

In VXT Canvas Event Manager, link each signal to a page, and choose the page that plays when nothing happens.
