The Samsung VXT Onboarding Guide: From Subscription to Live Screen

You've just purchased Samsung VXT. The subscription confirmation is sitting in your inbox. Now what?

New to digital signage altogether? You're probably wondering: Where do I even start? Which screens do I need? Do I need an IT team to set this up, or can my marketing team handle it?

Coming from MagicInfo? You'll want to know: Does VXT replace everything I had? What happens to my playlists, schedules and device groups, and whether there is a proper migration tool or if you'll have to rebuild from scratch.

This Samsung VXT onboarding guide answers all of them. Whatever your starting point, you'll find the right section below.

It covers everything that happens after you buy:  activating your subscription, connecting your first screen, publishing your first piece of content and everything in between. If you're moving from MagicInfo, cloud or on-premise, the migration path is here too.

Choosing Your Plan: S Series vs P Series

Samsung VXT is Samsung's cloud-native digital signage CMS, a subscription-based platform that replaces on-premise servers with a single browser-based hub you can access from anywhere. It comes in four plans, so before you set anything up, confirm which one you're on, as the features available differ between tiers.

Whether you're setting up from scratch or migrating an existing screen network, this Samsung VXT onboarding guide takes you through every step in the right order.

Supported Hardware: Samsung VXT Compatible Devices

Before you begin, confirm your existing hardware is supported. The full list of Samsung VXT compatible devices covers a wide range of display types and operating systems:

  • Samsung Standalone Signage (QXC, QXB, QXR, QXN, OXN series): The QXC series (QHC, QMC, QBC) offers the most complete feature set, including Early Warning, Backlight Scheduling, Power Consumption Check and Preset. Other series support core features like Sync Play, Content Embargo and Multi Screen Enrollment.

  • Legacy Samsung Tizen 4.0–6.0: Older Tizen devices are supported alongside the latest Tizen 6.5 displays.

  • Samsung Colour E-Paper (EMDX): Supported with nearly all VXT features, including Sync Play, Preset, Backlight Scheduling and Early Warning.

  • Samsung Stretch Signage (SHR and SHC): Both models support core VXT features, with the SHC adding Preset, Backlight Scheduling and Early Warning.

  • Samsung Outdoor Signage: Five model series supported, with the OHB and OXDX series offering the broadest feature set including Early Warning and Backlight Scheduling.

  • Samsung All-In-One (IAB/IAC) and Indoor LED S-BOX: Both supported, with the CS4B/CX4B S-BOX model offering the fuller feature set including Early Warning and Preset.

  • Samsung ProTV (BEC-H Series): Supported with Sync Play, Tag Condition and Content Embargo.

For non-Samsung hardware, VXT supports Android and Windows devices with equal feature parity (Sync Play, Tag Condition, Preset and Backlight Scheduling), though some advanced features are unavailable. VXT also runs on BrightSign players (BrightSign OS 9) and supports virtual screens for cloud-based or display-free environments. Any device with a Chrome browser can connect to the web-based VXT Player for flexible, hardware-agnostic deployment.

Samsung VXT Setup Guide: From Purchase to First Screen

Once your subscription is active, the Samsung VXT setup guide below takes you through three steps to get your first screen publishing content.

Step 1: Activating Your Account

After purchase, you will receive an email with your activation code. Head to samsungvx.com, click Sign In, accept the Terms of Use, and enter your business details. Once in, go to Settings > Plan > Register Activation Code and enter the code to activate your subscription. You'll then land on the VXT CMS Home screen: your central hub for content, devices and users.

Step 2: Registering Your Displays

With your account live, connect your screens. There are two methods:

Six-character pairing code: Launch VXT Player on your display, a six-digit code appears on screen. Log into your VXT account, enter the code under Device Management, and the screen is paired instantly. It syncs and receives content automatically.

Bulk Add Screens: for P Series plan holders needing to add multiple screens, there's a Bulk Add option in the Add Screen menu. After uploading the required files, clicking Pair Now connects all the screens at once.

Step 3: Creating and Publishing Your First Content

With devices registered, open VXT Canvas, the built-in drag-and-drop editor. Upload your own images, videos and brand assets, or choose from over 200 pre-built templates. No design experience required.

Key features to know from day one:

  • Content scheduling: Build playlists and schedule content by time, day or date, morning promotions, lunchtime menus, weekend campaigns, all set in advance.

  • Gen AI: Generate custom visuals from a text prompt directly in VXT Canvas. No designer needed.

  • Data Sync: Connect screens to live data sources — Google Sheets, JSON, XML, CSV (with no coding). Ideal for real-time pricing, room availability or dashboards.

  • Sync Play: Synchronise content across multiple screens simultaneously for video walls or multi-panel setups (P Series).

  • Event Manager: Trigger content changes based on time, network status or SmartThings sensors (P Series).

  • Supported file formats: MP4 (video), MP3 (audio), BMP / JPG / JPEG / PNG / GIF (images).

MagicINFO to VXT Migration: What to Plan For

VXT is not a like-for-like upgrade of MagicINFO. However, it's a separate cloud-native platform. Most core functionality carries over, but a few MagicINFO Premium capabilities are handled differently in VXT and worth factoring into your MagicINFO to VXT migration plan:

  • Rule Sets (conditional content logic): MagicInfo Premium's IF/THEN engine, which swaps content based on weather, POS data, or stock levels, has no direct equivalent in VXT's current release. The Event Manager (P Series) covers sensor-based triggers, but complex rule chains will need to be re-architected.

  • DataLink / native data feeds: MagicInfo's integrated DataLink layer is restructured in VXT. The Data Sync app covers JSON, XML, CSV and Google Sheets, but custom RDBMS or POS integrations may require additional development.

  • S3/S4 hardware: As noted above, Tizen 3.x displays are not supported and will need to be replaced.

If any of these are critical to your operation, speak with your account manager before committing to a migration timeline. A phased approach, starting with straightforward screens first, is often the most practical path.

From MagicINFO Cloud

Transitioning from MagicINFO Cloud is relatively straightforward. Content assets can be re-imported into VXT Canvas and devices re-registered via the pairing code. The VXT Services team can guide the process to ensure continuity with minimal disruption.

Getting Support Along the Way

VXT Services offers structured support throughout your VXT journey:

  • VXT Onboarding: A three-hour online session to fully configure your account, connect devices and create your first content, all tailored to your setup.

  • VXT Consultancy: For complex deployments: multi-site rollouts, data integrations, or architectural guidance.

  • VXT Training: Hands-on training for your team covering content management, device administration and advanced features.

  • Knowledge Base: Self-service documentation at helpdesk.vxtservices.com covering device registration, VXT Canvas, Sync Play, the Event Manager and more.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to replace my existing displays to use VXT?

Most Samsung displays on Tizen 4.0 or later can run VXT Player, no hardware swap needed. Tizen 6.5 panels come with it pre-installed. The exception is older S3 Orsay and S4 Tizen displays , which are not supported and would need replacing. Check your firmware versions before planning your rollout. VXT also supports non-Samsung hardware. You can see the full list of compatible devices here.

What's the difference between VXT S Series and P Series?

Both include content scheduling, VXT Canvas and templates. P Series adds screen monitoring, Sync Play for video walls, the Event Manager for trigger-based content, and Early Warning alerts. S Series is ideal for straightforward deployments; P Series suits larger networks where real-time monitoring and multi-screen synchronisation are a priority.

Is there a free trial available?

Yes. You can explore VXT before committing by visiting vxt.samsung.com to activate a trial, or book a personalised demo with VXT Services to see the platform set up for your specific environment. It's worth testing your actual hardware before rolling out across your full screen network.
